As part of the events marking the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, a presentation of the region was held at the National Hotel in Moscow for representatives of the foreign diplomatic corps, tourism industry, and journalists.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by: Vladislav Kuznetsov, Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug; Igor Kapyrin, Department for Liaisons with the Constituent Entities of the Federation, the Parliament and Public Associations (DLPA) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; Sangadzhi Tarbaev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism and Development of Tourism Infrastructure.
During the presentation, which was personally conducted by Governor V. Kuznetsov, high‑ranking diplomats and business representatives from 20 foreign countries and the Russian Federation learned about the economic and tourism potential of the region.
Eduardo Villegas Mejías, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States to the Russian Federation, shared his impressions of his visit to Chukotka.
The Regional Day featured a ceremony of signing agreements between:
- the Government of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and the tour operator «Fun and Sun» on implementing joint projects and programmes in tourism and hospitality;
- the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug and Kaliningrad State Technical University on training personnel for Chukotka.
Guests were treated to: unique works by artisans of the Uelen Bone Carving Workshop; the clothing collection «Multifaceted Chukotka» by Anna Kuznetsova, designer of the ethno‑brand «ӨNIR»; vibrant, distinctive performances by the Eskimo folklore ensemble «Atasikun» and ethnic singer Vero Usholik.
The event was hosted by the ICWAG President Leonid Gelibterman.
The gastronomic segment of the Regional Day showcased dishes from the «Chukotka Menu», developed by the international team of the «GastroCamp Chukotka 2024» project, including: Anton Salnikov, Elena Baklashova, and Valery Malyshev (Moscow); Sergey Mikhnevich (Donetsk); Nagendra Mahadevappa (India); Hosni Ben Amor (Tunisia); Chukotka’s chefs Vilen Gizbrecht, Kirill Kovalev, and Galina Morkovina.
The Regional Day was officially concluded by Anton Basansky, State Secretary and Deputy Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East and Arctic. In his speech, he highlighted the growing role of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug in the economic development of the Russian Federation.
