The First Global Summit on Wine Tourism was held by the Global Wine Tourism Organization (GWTO) in Uruguay



The First Global Summit on Wine Tourism was held in Uruguay from March 19 to 21. Representatives of 16 countries of the world gathered in the famous world tourist center - the city of Punta del Este. The summit was organized by the Global Wine Tourism Organization (GWTO) with the support of the Ministry of Tourism of Uruguay. More than 80 speakers presented their reports on the topics of responsible wine tourism. An exhibition and tasting of Uruguayan, Argentine and Chinese wines was held within the framework of the Summit.

Leonid Gelibterman, GWTO Vice-President for Eurasia, Chairman of the Committee for Gastronomy Tourism of the Russian Union of Travel Industry, was entrusted to act as moderator of the first round table of the Summit «Responsibility for Heritage». He has presented his report «Gastrodiplomacy» and organized a discussion with scientists, architects, anthropologists and winemakers from Argentina, Spain, France and Uruguay. On the final day of the Summit, Leonid Gelibterman presented a report on Russian wine tourism and, in particular, the members of the Global Wine Tourism Organization – Abrau-Durso, Château de Talu, WINEPARK by Mriya and Kuban-Vino.

The II Global Summit on Wine Tourism will be held in China in 2025.
