Tea Route in Chita: the festival "Tastes of the peoples of Transbaikalia" united Russia, China and Mongolia

The large-scale gastronomic festival "Tastes of the peoples of Transbaikalia on the Great Tea Route", which was held from September 15 to 20, has successfully ended in Chita. The event brought together gourmets and connoisseurs of culinary traditions of three countries — Russia, China and Mongolia.

The rich program of the festival

On September 16, the restaurant “Zvezda Kochevnika” immersed its guests in the atmosphere of Mongolian cuisine. The famous chef Erdenee Sumiyadorj from Ulaanbaatar presented traditional dishes of nomadic cuisine.

On September 17, the “Kimchi” restaurant took over the festival baton. Anton Salnikov, coordinator of the team of chefs of the international Gastrokamp project, presented an exquisite trans-Baikal menu, developed last year as part of the GastroCamp Transbaikalia 2024 project.

On September 18, it was the turn of the “Forest” restaurant to surprise its guests with authentic Chinese cuisine. According to the version of the fourth CHITA.RU National Award, this is the best gastronomic destination in Chita in 2024.Chef Thongsuk Channamom helped.

On September 19, chef Maxim Lazarev, a connoisseur of traditions, gave a Russian-Cossack dinner at the Zabaikalie restaurant. The guests tasted kulebyak and other traditional dishes.

The Grand Finale

The culmination of the festival was a large-scale event on Teatralnaya Square on September 20: there were art venues, a craft fair, restaurant areas and the Alley of Tastes. Visitors were able to taste a wide variety of dishes for free, from Mongolian bouzas to mochi dessert.

The final program included:

• Master classes from chefs from Russia, Mongolia and China

• Cover band performances

• Folk karaoke

• The “Great Tea Route” Tea Ceremony

• Tasting of unique dishes in the open air

The festival was held with the support of the Ministry of Economic Development and the Agency for Tourism of Transbaikalia within the framework of the national project "Tourism and Hospitality".
