From August 1 to 3, the team of the International Center of Wine and Gastronomy (ICWAG) was involved in organizing the business and gastronomic programs of the Bering Strait festival in the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.

President of ICWAG, Leonid Gelibterman, took part in the official opening ceremony of the festival and spoke as a speaker at the open discussion “Key Trends in the Development of the Creative Sector in Russia’s Regions”, presenting on the topic “Gastronomy as an Element of the Creative Economy.”

On August 2, a team of chefs — Anton Salnikov (Moscow), Nagendra Mahadevapppa (India), and Roy Lesmana (Indonesia) — with the support of ICWAG team members Elizaveta Petrenko, Yana Gerasimenko, and students of the Chukotka Multidisciplinary College, prepared 2,000 servings of venison okroshka and 2,000 servings of Indonesian-style seafood rice for the residents and guests of Anadyr.

Among the first to taste the dishes were the Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, V.G. Kuznetsov, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Peru to the Russian Federation, Juan Genaro del Campo Rodriguez.

On August 3, the ICWAG President spoke at the panel session “The Russian Far East – A Land of Adventures”, and Mexican artist Jesús Razo García donated his paintings to the Chukotka Regional Museum of Local History and the Center for the Gastronomic Heritage of Indigenous Peoples of the World.
