On January 24, the House of the Baltic Higher School of Gastronomy of Kaliningrad State Technical University (KSTU) was officially opened in Kaliningrad. Welcome speech to the assembled guests was given by the KSTU Rector Mr. Vladimir Volkogon, Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Kaliningrad Region Mr. Andrey Ermak, heads of ministries and departments of the Kaliningrad region, representatives of the restaurant community, heads of major public organizations, retail chains and food industry enterprises from the Kaliningrad region, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Congratulations to the Baltic Higher School of Gastronomy were sent by the Chairman of the All-Russian Society for the Conservation of Nature (VOOP) Mr. Vyacheslav Fetisov, President of the Russian Union of Travel Industry Mr. Ilya Umansky, President of the National Culinary Association of Russia Ms. Anna Zhukova, Professor of the Faculty of Tourism and Gastronomy at the University of Anahuac (Mexico) Ms. Marisa Ramos Abascal, founder and Honorary President of the Culinary Federation of Serbia Mr. George Kostic, Indian chef Mr. Nagendra Mahadevappa and Tunisian chef Mr. Hosni Ben Amor. The International Center of Wine and Gastronomy (ICWAG) is a partner of the Baltic Higher School of Gastronomy, and the ICWAG President Mr. Leonid Gelibterman, was the guest of honor at the opening ceremony.
The renovated educational environment of the School has its own unique focus and is designed for practical learning and research work. The key educational spaces were presented to the guests, including the laboratory of organoleptic evaluation of food; fermentation laboratory (established with the financial support of “Agama”); laboratory of nutrient research; laboratory of rheological research; laboratory of milk and dairy products research; laboratory of technochemical control; laboratory of biochemical research; technological laboratory of the food industry; laboratory of food innovations; laboratory of confectionery and bread; sommelier training class; laboratory of caramel and chocolate.
The guests of the opening ceremony were given the opportunity to try the latest developments of the School’s masters and doctoral students in a stylish and comfortable tasting room.
