From 16 to 20 of April the annual festival “Korfest” was held in the Chukotka Autonomous Region. The International Center of Wine and Gastronomy became a partner in the fest organization this year. His Excellency Eduardo Villegas Megías, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States to the Russian Federation, with his wife Ms. María Nazareth Sánchez Romero and Ms. Andrea Geraldine Quispe Ojeda, Second Secretary – Attaché for Cultural Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Peru in the Russian Federation took part in the “Korfest” business program. The international team of chefs included Mr. Evgeny Alfan (Moscow) and Mr. Nagendra Mahadevappa (the Republic of India) and was coordinated by Mr. Anton Salnikov (Moscow).
Mr. Vladislav Kuznetsov, Governor-Chairman of the Government of the Chukotka Autonomous Area, conducted an official working meeting with the Ambassador of Mexico, while his deputy, Ms. Irina Maksimova held talks with a diplomat from Peru. The issues of comprehensive cooperation between the Chukotka Autonomous Area and Latin American countries were discussed.
At the Regional House of Folk Art, His Excellency Eduardo Villegas Megías gave a lecture on the gastronomic culture of Mexico, and Ms. María Nazareth Sánchez Romero, jointly with an international team of chefs, performed with a master class on the traditional dishes of Mexican cuisine.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Mexican States to the Russian Federation and Second Secretary – Attaché for Cultural Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Peru participated in a Round table dedicated to the creation of the “Center for gastronomic culture of small-numbered peoples of the world” in Chukotka. The agreement on its establishment was signed between the Government of the Chukotka Autonomous Area and the ICWAG. Two more important cooperation agreements were signed during the “Korfest” between the government of the Chukotka Autonomous Area, the Russian National Culinary Association and the Baltic Higher School of Gastronomy of Kaliningrad State Technical University (KSTU, Kaliningrad).
An international team of held conducted a master class for students and professors of the Chukotka Multidisciplinary College, and also prepared a special dinner of local products for the best teachers, doctors and public representatives of Chukotka.
The “Korfest” celebration took place on the ice of the Anadyr Liman and became the final chord of the ICWAG teamwork. More than 1,500 guests were able to taste the author’s fish soup (ukha) and 300 kilograms of fried smelt (in Russian – korushka) with original sauces from the chefs.
