On March 31, the office of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE) hosted a joint meeting of the RUIE Commission on the Tourism Industry with the Committee on Gastronomic Tourism of the Russian Union of Travel Industry and the National Association of Investment and Development Agencies. Specialists from the expert community, which included representatives of government authorities and the diplomatic corps, public organizations and the tourism industry, leading Russian universities and the media, restaurateurs, hoteliers, chefs and entrepreneurs, discussed the prospects for the development of gastronomic tourism in Russia based on the best domestic and foreign practices. The meeting was co-moderated by Mr. Leonid Gelibterman, the ICWAG President, Chairman of the Committee on Gastronomic Tourism of the Russian Union of Travel Industry.
Experts have highlighted key issues that require special attention in the development of gastronomic tourism in Russia. In particular, the development of a unified strategy for the development of gastronomic tourism on a federal, regional and international levels, the formation and development of personnel potential, a common information policy, and others.
His Excellency Ramon Alejandro Arias Zarzuela, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Dominican Republic to the Russian Federation, and Mr. Shailesh Sharma, CEO of the tour operator “Headed Goose” (India), presented international experience during the meeting.
Deliverables of the discussion collected and processed to be sent to the relevant ministries and institutions of the Russian Federation.
