The dinner “Russian Table” held in Kaluga within the international project “Cuisines of nations of the world and Russia”

On December 14, the dinner “Russian Table” was organized as a part of the international project “Cuisines of nations of the world and Russia” at the “Ambassador Hall” hospitality center. The theme of the event was the reconstruction of the coronation dinner of Nicholas II in 1896 for the diplomatic corps given in the St. George Hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace.

A rich cultural program and dishes recreated according to historical recipes immersed the guests of the evening in the atmosphere of the XIX century. The leading experts of the “Russian Table” dinner were Mr. Leonid Gelibterman, the ICWAG President, and Mr. Igor Shein, a gastro-archaeologist, biochemist, researcher of the cuisines of the peoples of Russia from Krasnoyarsk city. Mr. Roman Melnikov, the chef of the evening, Ms. Kamilla Ageeva, the pastry chef of the “Ambassador Kaluga” hotel, and other members of the team of professional chefs and bartenders prepared a unique gastronomic part of the event. Mr. Evgeny Shkarin, the chef-bartender from Ufa city, developed a series of special non–alcoholic cocktails for three snack tables – “Manhattan. From Kaluga with love”, “Virgin dirty Martini”, and gin with anchan (blue tea) and herbs in the British style.

Launched in 2022, the international project “Cuisines of nations of the world and Russia” is being implemented by the team of the “Ambassador Kaluga” hotel under the directorship of Ms. Irina Melnikova. Its goal is to provide the citizens of Kaluga city and guests of the region with a unique opportunity to explore the culture and customs of various ethnic and national groups around the world. The “Russian Table” dinner was the 20th event of this gastronomic and cultural project.
