From September 4 to 6, the ICWAG President participated in the events of the City Picnic “Kaliningrad Street Food” in Kaliningrad. He chaired the jury of the final stage of the All-Russian Competition for the Best Street Food Dish in Russia (Russian Street Food Awards 2025).
Two projects were declared the winners:
🏆 «Plyushka» (Belgorod) presented the jury with a “slobodskaya kulebyaka baked in four corners”: filled with buckwheat and mushrooms, stewed cabbage with egg, chicken in creamy sauce with fried onions and cheese, and pork with dried apricots. The kulebyaka was intricately decorated with a traditional folk embroidery pattern called tetёрka.
🏆 «Gnezdo» (Zelenogradsk → Sovetsk, Kaliningrad Oblast) represented the region with a dish made entirely from local Sovetsk (historically Tilžit/Tilsit) products: Tilsiter cheese fried in sourdough batter, served with jam made from smoked beetroot.
Two projects shared second place:
Chef Artyom Mironov from Nizhny Novgorod presented a family recipe of posikunchiki — crispy mini-Ural pastries with juicy fillings, passed down to him by his wife. “This is how her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother have always cooked them. As a professional chef, I’ve adapted the recipe for street food format. We use only local Ural ingredients.” The jury tasted posikunchiki filled with moose meat.
«Perepechkin» (Izhevsk) presented perepechi — the number one gastronomic brand of the Udmurt Republic. These are golden, basket-shaped pastries made from thin dough, filled with natural ingredients ranging from beef and turkey to spinach and cheese, as well as dessert versions — all baked in a wood-fired oven.
The City Picnic in Kaliningrad brought together culinary projects from several countries and regions of the Russian Federation. According to organizers, the event attracted over 70,000 residents and guests of the city.
