В рамках сессии на тему лучших практических примеров инициатив в сфере винного туризма, успешно реализованных в различных странах мира, Леонид Гелибтерман представил участникам форума доклад о состоянии винного туризма в Российской Федерации.
В работе 3-й Глобального форума приняли участие Генеральный секретарь ЮНВТО Зураб Пололикашвили, премьер-министр Республики Молдова Павел Филипп, посол Азербайджана в Испании Анар Магеррамов и другие официальные лица. Свои доклады представили эксперты из Аргентины, Армении, Великобритании, Гонконга, Греции, Грузии, Италии, Испании, Канады, Мексики, Новой Зеландии, Португалии, США, Франции, Чили и ряда других стран мира. Деловая программа конференции ЮНВТО в Молдове включала в себя посещение ведущих винодельческих предприятий страны, развивающих винный туризм, в том числе подвалов знаменитого винодельческого комбината "Криково".
Масштабное международное событие в сфере винного туризма завершилось торжественной передачей памятного винного сосуда представителю Чили — страны, которая в 2019 году примет 4-ю Глобальную конференцию ЮНВТО по винному туризму. Президент МЭЦ, как один из ведущих мировых экспертов по эногастрономическому туризму, приглашён к участию в специальной группе по разработке деловой программы конференции в Сантьяго. В 2020 году мероприятие ЮНВТО запланировано к проведению в Алентежу (Португалия).
В рамках своего визита в Кишинёв Леонид Гелибтерман провёл ряд деловых встреч с представителями власти и бизнеса Молдовы. В ходе переговоров с Послом РФ в Молдове Олегом Васнецовым и высокопоставленными российскими дипломатами был обсуждён вопрос о возможности проведения Российской гастрономической недели в Кишинёве в сентябре 2019 года.

On 6 and 7 September in Chisinau the 3rd Global Conference of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on "Wine tourism as a Tool for Rural Development" will be held. Leonid Gelibterman, a member of the Advisory Board of the UNWTO Gastronomy Network, will share with the Conference participants a practical experience in the wine tourism development in Russia.
The event in Chisinau will bring together about 40 speakers from more than 10 countries. The expert sessions will be devoted to the exchange of practical experience in the implementation of standards for the development of wine tourism in different countries, issues of public-private partnership for the development of rural winemaking and the issues of pricing a tourist product of this kind.
Leonid Gelibterman will make a presentation at the session devoted to successfully implemented initiatives in the field of wine tourism development in different countries of the world, along with speakers from Georgia, France, Mexico and Portugal. Extensive business programme of the UNWTO Conference in Chisinau will be finished with enogastronomic tour of the participants through the tunnels of the "Underworld of wine of Moldova" — the "Cricova" winery and with solemn handing of the wine vessel to the representative of a country which will take the following 4th Global Conference of the UNWTO on wine tourism in its territory.
Wine tourism is one of the most prosperous and promising segments of tourist demand. Such tourism can generate income and employment in rural areas, where other sources of income may be in decay. The development of wine and gastronomy tourism and, in particular, wine tourism creates additional income-generating opportunities through its linkages to handicrafts, natural tourism, gastronomy and agro-tourism.
A special 3rd edition of the UNWTO Conference in Moldova will focus on wine tourism as a tool for rural development, with an emphasis on the contribution of tourism to the 2030 Universal Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
